Excellence in Education

London is a centre of education excellence. Western University, along with its affiliated university colleges of Brescia, Huron, and King’s, comprise one of the top 1% of universities worldwide with students and faculty from around the globe. Fanshawe College attracts more than 20,000 students each year from 60 countries. College Boreal also offers a wide variety of French-language post-secondary programs.

London also offers quality primary and secondary school options, including 20 private schools. Like elsewhere in Ontario there are four government funded school boards in London: English public, English Catholic, French public, and French Catholic. The Thames Valley District School Board (the English public board) is the largest in the province serving more than 74,000 students each year.

Friendly, neighbourhoods with plenty to do in your spare time

London has many choices for housing needs and budgets.  There are great apartments in the downtown area and many family friendly neighbourhoods. Compared to other cities in Canada house prices in London are much lower.  London has a variety of sports and entertainment options for children and adults.  Residents enjoy arts and culture in traditional and urban settings and artist entrepreneurs are well supported.

A DIVERSE AND WELCOMING COMMUNITY

Immigrants make up more than 22% of London’s population. Over 100 languages are spoken in the city.  There are many resources to help newcomers, including numerous settlement agencies  and the London and Middlesex Immigration Portal that offer valuable information to newcomers and create an environment based on inclusion and respect.
